MCRC offers its members and guests access to four racquetball courts that allow viewing with glass back walls and upstairs access to view each court. Racquetball is a high-intensity, lifetime sport that offers fun and healthy cardio exercise. Individuals of all ages, both male and female, as well as couples and families, can enjoy playing.

For those already familiar with the sport, we offer various programs, leagues, and tournaments to promote your enjoyment. However, if you are a beginner or would like to know more about the game before you get started, our Beginner’s Introduction to Racquetball Clinic is designed to help you get started safely! If you don’t know where to start, you can always meet new players and get your skill level assessed by our Racquetball Coordinator on our Tuesday night Open Court night.

Our programs, education and training, and clinics, along with competitive leagues and tournaments, are designed around your skill level to help aspiring players enjoy others of similar levels but also to grow to their desired level of competition.

Mark has been a long-time competitor, instructor, and ambassador for racquetball since his high school and college days. He has progressed through various skill levels based on competing in many tournaments and participating/instructing in advanced clinics and private lessons.

He has been playing at the Mentor Community Recreation Center (formerly the Heisley Racquet Club) since the mid-80’s, and since August 2024, serves as the Racquetball Coordinator/Instructor for the Mentor Community Recreation Center. Mark is pleased to help others to learn and to develop their skills and love of racquetball through learning fundamental skills, strategies and understanding of playing singles and doubles. Besides getting to know the goals/interests of individuals interested in playing, Mark will be developing various racquetball programs such as the Challenge Courts, Blind Draw Single and Doubles Tournaments, structured leagues based on level of play, group clinics, private lessons and other fun and social events that promote developing a healthy racquetball community.

Mark was born in Bradford, PA but raised in Erie, PA. After graduating from John Carroll University in 1978, he has since resided in Lake County. Interestingly, all his children grew up being actively involved at Mentor Heisley (i.e., Mentor Community Recreation Center). As the Racquetball Coordinator / Instructor, Mark’s primary goal is to encourage both adults and children to learn to play advanced racquetball, and compete in a safe, fun, and progressive manner.
